King Noctua was the reigning King during the Frostburn War, transferring his position to his heir Blizzard upon waking from a coma. He lead his tribe and alliance, dubbed the Frozen Lotus Alliance, through the Frostburn War, though was fatally injured during its final battles.

Description

Noctua has light blue scales with blotches of brown over his body, including the line of scales from his snout to his horns. His underbelly scales are a light yellow-cream, and his horns are a mismatch of desaturated purple and light cream. His eyes are yellow, and his inner wings are of a similar colouring of his horns, following a gradient from the same purple to cream.

Personality

Noctua is quiet and thoughtful, often lost in said thought calculating his next step. He takes the most logical path he can think of, even at the risk of others. He can be nice and sociable when he needs to be, though his temper could get the better of him; especially with those he distrusts.

Biography

Life Before Rulership

Noctua grew up in the IceWing Palace alongside Blizzard. He showed disinterest in the throne at a young age, seeing it as hasslesome rather than a privilege. As Noctua aged, he slowly grew fonder of the idea of rulership, finding pride in leading others to success.

Life as Ruler

Noctua's start to rulership was immediately filled with trouble, with the Heart of Ice & Fire being discovered in the waters between Ice and Sky territories. Both his and Fire Lord Vulture's refusal to back down over the ownership of the relic soon turned into the Frostburn War. In the months leading up to the war, Noctua had slipped into a comatose state for an unknown reason, forcing his heir and best friend Princess Blizzard to rule in his stead. Eventually, he did wake in time to fight in the war.

During the finale of the Frostburn War, he and Vulture had a face-off atop a snowy arch in an unprotected IceWing village. It was there he was beaten to near-death by Vulture, getting tossed off the arch and into the snow below after having his wings scathed by the SkyWing's blade. Noctua fell unconscious, back into another coma. He awoke to Blizzard over him, attempting to heal him. Noctua, realizing he was in no condition to rule, passed the title of IceWing Ruler to Blizzard.

Life After Rulership

Noctua spent the duration of the war preceding his recovering from his wounds in the IceWing Palace. As soon as he was able to comfortably move, he caught word of Ex-Queen Legacy's self-inflicted exile and sought to locate her whereabouts. Upon finding her, they exchanged greetings, grief, and woes, finally bidding one another farewell, both understanding the errors in their ways of rulership. Shortly after Legacy's passing, Noctua succumbed to the stressful life he led.

• Noctua was originally intended to be a flat, completely two-dimensional character for Heron's plan to become ruler of every tribe at least once. Blizzard (the person) introduced and greatly headed the idea for Noctua to have a backstory.
