The Hub is the central location on the Wings of Fire: The New World Minecraft server. It is primarily used to teleport to other locations, but also contains several utilities and interesting areas.

The center of the hub from the interior looking up at the colored glass dome.
The center of the hub.

Overview

The Hub can be accessed by pressing the button of any of the teleport points located in many significant locations. It can also be teleported to at any time with the /hub command. Upon entering the hub, the player will appear on the landing platform suspended in the center of the hub. From here, the player may jump, fall, or glide to their desired location. This improves speed greatly over past iterations.

The hub follows the day/night cycle of Pyrrhia and Pantala. There are various restrictions enforced while in the hub to prevent unwanted modifications. It is impossible to take damage in the hub, and surrounding beacons provide the regeneration effect, making it completely safe.

Teleports

The primary purpose of the Hub to allow players to teleport to other significant locations. The teleports are split into four different categories.

Kingdoms and Lore Builds

This section is characterized by its purple and magenta color scheme. It contains the following teleports:

Significant Areas

There are several significant areas and structures at the Hub itself.

Interior Hub

Staff Hall

The Staff Hall (characterized by the purple and magenta color scheme) contains showcases of each active staff member as an armor stand in an enclosed display. The armor stands and decorations inside the displays are designed by the staff member they represent.

Update Bulletin

The Update Bulletin (characterized by the blue color scheme) contains two sign boards for announcements. These are usually shortened versions of the announcements made in the Discord server. This area also contains the Patron Hall, which showcases players who support the server via the WOFTNW Patreon in a similar way to the Staff Hall.

Tribe Change

The Tribe Change area allows players to change their registered tribe as explained in the Tribe Change System. There is a short sign-board explanation of the system for convenience.

Wing Selection

The Wing Selection area is a series of halls showcasing the various elytra textures available in Dragonspeak. Players may select a pair via a button to be given one to wear.

The spawn cave.

Spawn Cave

On the west side of the Hub, the spawn cave is located within Legacy Hill. Players who join for the first time emerge from this hill after completing the joining process.

Rock Park

Between the west and east buildings, there is a rock park with a stream, bench, and several rocks. You can crawl underneath the stream's entrance to find a small cave.

Cygnus Apples

To the east of the rock park is a small shop with directions on how to create a sign shop. Apples cannot actually be bought here.

Reading Room

The Reading Room is a building on the north side of the Hub. It contains several significant books as well as a fully-upgraded enchantment table that can be used by players.

The Instasmelter

Across the path from the reading room is the Instasmelter building. This open-air structure contains a crafting table, smithing table, stonecutter, ender chest, several anvils, and several grindstones. It also contains the Instasmelter itself, which is a furnace that smelts and cooks near-instantly. It is useful for smelting or cooking large quantities of items. As such, it is connected to a hopper system that allows multiple stacks to be queued at once.

The Block Pit

The block pit contains volumes of blocks that can be destroyed and regenerated for infinite materials. It is located underground within the Crystal Cliffs on the north side of the Hub.

Jauari's lookout

Jauari's Lookout

Jauari's Lookout is a small picnic area on top of the Crystal Cliffs to the north of the Hub. It is dedicated to the retired staff member, Jauari. It contains a campfire, a telescope, and an armor stand representing Jauari facing the sky.

Camp Pleiades

Camp Pleiades is located on the east side of the Hub. It consists of several tents near a campfire and contains instructions on how to set a home.

End Portal

Within Noctua Mountain on the east side of the Hub is the end portal. It is the only way to travel to the end.

Bob's Farm

The south-east section of the hub is dedicated to Bob's Farm. It consists mostly of farmland. There is also a tractor near the end portal and a chicken coop on the opposite side of the fountain. If the wheat is fully grown (as indicated by a floating text display in the center), players can destroy the wheat to begin the Harvest minigame.

The Peril statue.

Peril Statue

Above Bob's Farm is a statue of Wings of Fire character Peril built by player Shards_of_ice. It was originally built during Generation 3 near Jade Mountain Academy.

SandWing Statue

On the south side of the Hub, there is a statue of "a random sandwing" by Elle_The_Cryptid (originally known as CopperWingz). The statue was built during Generation 2 and was used to represent Wings of Fire character Queen Oasis in front of the SandWing Stronghold until Generation 4.

The Plantspeaker

The south-west corner of the Hub is The Plantspeaker, which was previously reserved for the Block Pit. The Plantspeaker allows the growth of specific plants (Flowers, Leaves, Saplings, etc.), for the price of a honeycomb. Use a Ghast Tear to grow a random assortment of plants.

History

First Iteration

The first iteration of the Hub (initially named the Teleport Hub) was built sometime between the 11th and 26th of May, 2016 by ebelle. It was made primarily of light blue terracotta, quartz, and bedrock. Its purpose was to allow players to teleport easily to other locations on Pyrrhia.

The Teleport Hub was expanded to two floors on June 6th, 2017 due to the number of teleports gradually increasing. By this time, the community referenced it as the TP Hub.

The second iteration of the hub.

Second Iteration

The second iteration of the hub was built on June 10th of 2020. The redesign was the same size, but was more elaborate and used primarily dark oak and purple terracotta. Because of frequent out-of-bounds exploits, the security of the hub was greatly upgraded with this revision.

This rendition was notorious for its capability to allow entities to teleport into the TP hub via alternate means, but not out due to how it was loaded. Wolves would frequently become trapped in the TP Hub. In August of 2020, the issue was so prevalent that chickens flooded the TP Hub due to the ability to throw their eggs within the TP Hub.

Third Iteration

The TP Hub did not get another redesign until Generation 3 came along with the new Pyrrhia map. This third iteration, built primarily by Heron (then iDinoSoul) and Zilla (Godzilla1005), was larger and removed the quartz and redstone lanterns for birch planks and glowshrooms. This iteration also added beacons to allow players in the area to walk faster.

The fourth iteration of the TP hub from above. There are four main buildings around a central building. Between the four are outdoor areas with various unique features.
The fourth iteration of the TP hub.

Fourth Iteration

The fourth iteration of the TP Hub massively redesigned the layout. The growing number of teleports required an even larger structure, so this iteration split the TP Hub into four distinct areas, each with their own set of teleport locations. Players would spawn in the center and could walk to either of the four directions for a specific teleport location or visit the outdoor, decorative corner areas.

Fifth Iteration

An early rendition of the Hub.

The fifth iteration of the TP Hub was created for Generation 4. This is the current version. For its wider variety of purposes, it was renamed to simply The Hub.
