HiveWings are one of the 10 selectable tribes in Wings of Fire: The New World. Their tribe selection can be found on the bottom floor of the Tribe Select directly ahead of the entrance, along with the LeafWings and the SilkWings.

Description

HiveWings are bee-like dragons living in the savannah of Pantala in tall structures called hives. They can have various different abilities, such as wrist stingers or tail acid spray.

Headcanons

In WOFTNW HiveWings can make honey from nectar in a process almost like bees and some species of wasp. HiveWings that produce honey have a "Honey stomach" That is connected to the esophagus and stores nectar kept separate from the real stomach buy a valve. Inside enzymes break down the nectar into a watery version of honey over the course of about three days. when the incomplete honey is ready the HiveWing can produce it buy either suppressing their salivary glands and coughing it up or releasing it via small pocket openings in the cheeks. Finally the excess water needs to be evaporated via fanning or heating to bring the honey from 70% water to under 20% water content finishing off the honey production.
